Alan Devonshire is a former professional footballer and current football manager, born on 13th April 1956 in Brentford, London. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever played for Brentford FC.
Devonshire began his career as a youth player at West Ham United in 1974, where he made his first-team debut in 1976. He played for West Ham for over a decade, making over 350 appearances and scoring 32 goals. During his time at West Ham, he won the FA Cup twice and the European Cup Winners' Cup once.
In 1988, Devonshire joined Watford FC, where he played for two seasons before retiring from professional football in 1990. He then went on to manage several non-league clubs, including Maidenhead United and Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Devonshire's greatest achievement as a manager came in 2017 when he led Maidenhead United to the National League South title, earning them promotion to the National League for the first time in their history. He has also been named National League South Manager of the Month on several occasions.
Devonshire is married with two children and has kept his personal life private throughout his career. He is known for his quiet and reserved personality off the pitch but is highly respected within the football community for his achievements both as a player and a manager.
