Alex Zanardi Autograph

Alex Zanardi is a former Italian racing driver who has made a name for himself in the world of motorsports. Born on October 23, 1966, in Bologna, Italy, Zanardi began his career in karting before moving up to Formula 3 and eventually Formula 1.

Zanardi's career in Formula 1 was relatively short-lived, with his best finish being a sixth-place finish at the 1993 Brazilian Grand Prix. However, he found much more success in the CART series in the United States, where he won two championships in 1997 and 1998.

In 2001, Zanardi suffered a horrific crash during a CART race at the Lausitzring in Germany that resulted in the amputation of both of his legs. However, he refused to let this setback define him and instead focused on making a comeback.

Zanardi returned to racing just two years later, competing in the European Touring Car Championship and later the World Touring Car Championship. He also became an accomplished hand cyclist, winning four gold medals and two silver medals at the Paralympic Games.

Zanardi's achievements both on and off the track have earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. In addition to his two CART championships, he has also won races in various other series such as the World Touring Car Championship and the Rolex Sports Car Series.

Off the track, Zanardi has been recognized for his contributions to motorsports and disability advocacy. He was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Bologna in 2004 and was named an Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2012.

Zanardi is married to Daniela Manni and they have one son together named Niccolò. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout his life, Zanardi has remained a true inspiration to many through his determination and resilience both on and off the track.
