Henry Winkler Autograph

Henry Winkler is an American actor, director, comedian and author. He was born on 30 October 1945 in Manhattan, New York, USA.

He made his acting debut, in a minor role, on the television series, Another World (1964) and has made many appearances in both film and television throughout his career. His best known role was as Arthur ‘The Fonz’ Fonzarelli in the popular American sitcom, Happy Days (1974-84), a role which he has reprised for other shows including; Mork & Mindy (1978), Laverne & Shirley (1976 / 1979) and The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang (1980-81). His other prominent television roles have been as Barry Zuckerkorn in Arrested Development (2003-13), Dr. Saperstein in Parks and Recreation (2013-15) and Sy Mittleman in Children’s Hospital (2010-16). He’s even appeared in many films, most notably as Principal Arthur Himbry in Scream (1996), Coach Klein in The Waterboy (1998) and has provided his voice to many animated shows including; King of the Hill (2004), BoJack Horseman (2014-), Bob’s Burgers (2015) and SpongeBob SquarePants (2016). He has also performed in theatre and pantomime and written children's books.

• Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series – Happy Days (1977 / 1978)

• Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (1981)

• Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program – Clifford's Puppy Days (2005)

• Received an OBE for his contribution to helping children with learning difficulties (2011)
