Katherine Jenkins is a Welsh classical singer and songwriter. She was born on 29 June 1980 in Neath, Wales.
Even though she started her career in 1998, it wasn't until 2003 that she became widely recognised for her performance at Pope John Paul II's silver jubilee. Since that time, her career took off and she gained many fans for her unique opera/pop versions of not only hymns that you would hear in church, but also of contemporary chart hits. She received a Classic Brit Award for Album of the Year in 2005 and 2006, making her the first female artist to achieve two consecutive wins.
