Martin Freeman is a British actor. He was born on 8 September 1971 in Aldershot, Hampshire, England.
He started his career in 1997, mainly taking on minor roles in television until 2001, where he took on the role of Tim Canterbury in the UK version of The Office (2001-03), a mockumentary style television series, alongside Ricky Gervais. Since then he has taken on major roles in both television and film which have included, Dr. John Watson in crime drama Sherlock (2010-), Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit film trilogy (2012/2013/2014) and as Lester Nygaard in the American black-comedy, crime drama series, Fargo (2014-15).
