Melanie C is a British singer, songwriter and television personality. She was born on 12 January 1974 in Whiston, Lancashire, England.

She began her official music career as a member of the girl group in 1994, Spice Girls and had the nickname of Sporty Spice. They saw huge success with their 'Girl Power' mantra and catchy pop songs. Once they disbanded in 1998, she would go on to have her first solo career a year later and release her debut album Northern Star (1999), which topped the UK charts at number 4, in the same year she released her debut single Goin' Down which also entered at number 4. During her solo career she has had tow number 1 singles in the UK; Never Be the Same Again (feat. Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes) and I Turn to You, both in 2000. She has since released a further 6 studio albums and 31 singles. In 2007 she returned to the Spice Girls to go on a worldwide tour, whilst maintaining her solo career. She has also took to the stage on a couple of occasions and has appeared as a judge for talent shows overseas, The X Factor Australia (2011) and Asia's Got Talent (2015).
