Andy Ritchie is a former professional footballer and manager who was born on November 28, 1960, in Leeds, England. He began his football career as a striker for Leeds United in 1978 and went on to play for Oldham Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Scarborough before retiring in 1996.
After retiring from playing, Ritchie became a coach and worked as an assistant manager at Oldham Athletic before being appointed as the club's manager in 1998. He led the team to promotion to the First Division in his first season in charge and also guided them to the League Cup final in 1990.
Ritchie went on to manage Barnsley, Huddersfield Town, and Chesterfield before retiring from management in 2011. During his managerial career, he won the Football League Trophy with Barnsley in 2000 and also led Huddersfield Town to promotion to League One in 2004.
Aside from his managerial achievements, Ritchie is also remembered for his playing career. He scored over 200 goals during his time as a professional footballer and was known for his clinical finishing and ability to score from long range.
Ritchie is married with two children and continues to be involved in football as a pundit and commentator. He is highly respected within the football community for his knowledge of the game and his ability to develop young players.
